Umakant Dave

Dr. Umakant Dave is currently the WAGE President.
Having trained in India (medicine and gastroenterology), I moved to the UK in 1994. I completed my Gastroenterology training from the prestigious North West Deanery in London including MD from Imperial College.
I moved to Swansea to take up the post of Consultant Gastroenterologist in Morriston Hospital in 2003. I enjoy complex endoscopy and perform ERCP and bowel cancer screening. I regularly teach in WIMAT and BSG EndoVillage.
I am an honorary senior lecturer in Swansea University Medical School.Along with 2 colleagues, I have set up a charity training healthcare professionals in Bangladesh. This charity has won awards and supported research during its work (2013-).
I have a deep interest in healthcare professional’s wellbeing and have run several courses on mindfulness and wellbeing (UK and abroad). I was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s jubilee (June 2022) for contribution to NHS.
