Dr. Dai Samuel is currently Secretary of WAGE
I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
I studied medicine at the University Wales College of Medicine, graduated from there with honours in 2008. I then undertook my foundation, core and higher training in Wales.
During my registrar training, I became one of the inaugural Welsh Clinical Leadership fellows, completed a Postgraduate Certificate in leadership and management and contributing to a large service redesign project in Hywel Dda University Health Board.
I also completed a 1 year Hepatology and ERCP fellowship at the Royal Gwent Hospital before completing my training in 2018.
I took my first consultant post at the Gwent Liver unit before moving back to Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB in 2019.
My clinical interests include advanced endoscopy, alcohol related liver disease and integrated healthcare models. I am a fluent Welsh speaker.

– Clinical lead for Gastroenterology at the Royal Glamorgan and RTE ILG
– IQILS lead for the health board
– Foundation Programme training director for the Royal Glamorgan Hospital
I enjoy teaching and have been part of several WIMAT faculties.
A brief overview of my role with WAGE:
I am currently secretary of WAGE. I work closely with the president, vice president and treasurer as part of the WAGE core executive team and also responsible for coordinating committee meetings and educational events.
