Welcome to WAGE!
Welsh Association for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (WAGE)
WAGE exists to support the clinical care of patients in Wales with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, and those requiring diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. The primary route towards achieving this is to bring together the following groups of healthcare professionals:
- Medical gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, clinical oncologists and many other subspecialties
- Medical, nursing and other healthcare professionals involved with caring for patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreatic and biliary tree, working in both North and South Wales.
Meetings & Awaydays: SAVE THE DATES
Our Autumn meeting will again be held at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells on Thursday 13 October. The theme this year will be an endoscopic “pot pourri”. We will cover wireless capsule endoscopy, PEG/PEG(J) and PEJ, as well as the use of Propofol to support endoscopy. The programme can be downloaded here: Oct 2016 WAGE AGM programme complete.
The afternoon session will include a free paper session. We invite all trainees in Wales with an interest in Gastroenterology, GI surgery, radiology, pathology or hepatology to submit an abstract for consideration for presentation. This may be a summary of work in progress, an original abstract or work that has been presented at a national meeting that would be of general interest to medical and surgical staff specialising in gastroenterology. Case reports will only be considered if they embody an original clinical observation. Six will be chosen for oral presentation at the meeting, and a prize of £200 will be presented to the best paper delivered on the day.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday 19th August to allow time for peer review. Please submit your abstract, maximum 250 words, to Alison.Davey@wales.nhs.uk.
The Autumn meeting will be preceded by an Awayday on Wednesday 12 October for which the theme will be “Hepatology”. This is timed to support the work programme of the Liver Delivery Plan http://gov.wales/topics/health/nhswales/plans/liver-disease/?lang=en. The programme can be downloaded here: WAGE AWAYDAY ON HEPAT0LOGYv3
